Making over plain cotton upholstery fabric requires nothing more than a household disinfectant and water. Working outside, and wearing protective eyewear and gloves, lay the desired yardage for your project flat on a sheet of plastic. In a measuring cup, mix together ½ cup bleach and ½ cup water. Use a plastic spoon to drib-ble the liquid all over the fabric. When you're satisfied with the pattern, let dry, then run the fabric through a regular cycle in your washer and dryer. Take it to a local upholsterer (we sent ours to tapemeasure

I placed another order in April for more slides. This time, they were not stacked together, but literally just thrown in a box with zero packing material. Heavy drawer slides just literally tossed loose into a box with no packing material. Obviously, they were also damaged. Again, I emailed, and got no reply. I called and spoke to Teresa, who sent me replacements. When I explained that I had emailed to no reply, she had me forward the email to her email address. She received my email and was able to find it in the info@... inbox, and expressed surprise that no one had replied to my earlier emails.

Professional Series Completion:  To fully complete MSF’s 9-month Professional Training program, students will need to attend all three levels of training: Basic, Intermediate, and Master-Level which collectively equal 36 weeks / 9 months of classes, and satisfy all class requirements for each level.  Students may enroll in 3 consecutive sessions (Fall, Winter, and Spring – in any order), and complete the entire professional training within 9 months – 1 calendar year.  Alternatively, students may space their training sessions out over a longer period.  For example, they may attend 1 session per year (Fall, Winter, or Spring – in any order), in which case completion of all training levels may take 3 years.  Students enroll in each level/session independently of all others and are not required to commit to / take all three levels of training, though completion of the entire series is highly recommended.  There are significant tuition discounts for students who, at the start of their training, enroll in multiple, consecutive 12-week sessions.
Using shelving in your room or kitchen is a great way to arrange and de-clutter space… I know, such ground-breaking term it is. Do not write me off yet, I just want to show you how you can build some clean floating corner shelving that appears to have no brackets. You can create them at no cost, and the hardest part of the plan is figuring out what you are going to put on these shelves when you are finished.

Schools that offer furniture design degrees are often necessary for learning the ins and outs of the furniture industry. This special area of industrial design is sometimes considered to be a mixture of several different industries, including interior design, fashion, and architecture. A good furniture design school will usually incorporate all of these elements into their furniture design programs.

I know I’ve been a little MIA but we’ve had a big project in the backyard, an overwhelming workload (which we planned on being MUCH less), and then decided to hire out for some help to haul away a huge amount of dirt.  Unfortunately, that ended up with the guy we hired stealing from us…..uggggh.  When will we ever learn to not be so trusting?!  Steve and I both have a problem with that……but when did being “too trusting” become such an extreme character flaw?!!  Sad.  Anyway, the whole situation is under investigation and there are some definite twists to the story that the crime-show-watcher in me would love to share with any other crime-show-watching enthusiasts out there. ;) Hopefully soon.
Flip the towel right side down. To determine where to place the tabs, center a spatula atop one of the towel’s shorter ends, and use straight pins to mark the spatula’s width. Place a tab at each pinned point, slightly over- lapping the tabs with the top of the towel. Make sure that each tab’s closed side lines up with the pins and that the open sides face each other. Remove the pins, then topstitch both tabs in place. Repeat on the towel’s other short end.

Steve Brown CF '90, Instructor in the Cabinet & Furniture Making program, recently published a great how-to article in Fine Woodworking. The classic cabriole leg is a solid design choice for period furniture makers, but even with just that leg style, choosing from a variety of foot styles to go with it can be daunting. Steve helps clarify the process with step-by-step instructions for laying out and carving three common feet for the cabriole leg: the pad, slipper, and trifid foot.
